My parents live in a rural area and DSL and cable are not available. They currently use satellite for their TV (Direct-TV). Their dial-up is lucky to hit 56k on a good day. I have heard of a few companies that are advertising satellite internet but have not heard any reviews.

Does anyone on YA have or had Satellite Direct TV for PC?
I found it on the internet and apparently you pay a one time fee(about $50) and for ever after you get about 3000 channels from all over the world to watch on your PC.
Sounds too good to be true so i was wondering if anyone on here had tried it or knew of anyone who had tried it?
All the reviews I read on line were somehow attached to the company that sells it and that makes me a bit leary. Any thoughts?

I’ve heard mixed reviews. I understand that it’s not perfect but basically, does it keep it promises, are there no hidden charges, and is it dangerous to buy?

It is a scam. They don’t list what specific channels they offer, because they do have major channels you may want (at least legally), and the channels they do have are probably ones yo don’t want, and can likely get for free on your own.
Given the shady nature of the venture, I wouldn’t give a CC number to them.
Has anyone had a bad experience with Satellite Direct TV?
Just to make sure everyone is on the same page: Satellite Direct is an ONLINE LIVE TV viewing product that suppose to allow you unlimited access to 3500+ channels for one flat rate and never any monthly charges or fees. Now I’ve looked hard and long about this product. All I can find is GREAT A+++ reviews and NO one has any problems with this program. IS this the holy grail of viewing TV? It would make sense to watch tv online.. So how good is this program. I live in southwest Georgia USA and it is very difficult to get more than 3 channel on antenna (without spending $150 for an up scale antenna). I do however have DSL not the best but not the worse. Is this worth trying?
Seriously, if you buy into this, you deserve what ever it is you get, but I can assure you that you will not be happy with the product.

Use a little common sense when critically reviewing something. Does the web site you are interested in actually have a list of the 3500 channels that you will “be able to get”? If not, why not?

Are the employees who install equipment for Comcast, Dish Network, Direct Tv. Certified Profesionals?
Im just curious if they are certified and license to install equipment such as wires, wall mounts etc? Do they learn about cutting drywall or something like that? Please explain if you guys have details! Thank you. Im suppose to be getting Satellite from one of them two “Direct tv or Dish” but i don’t want to name the exact name but i saw some frightening reviews that say that they leave the walls with wholes in them and unfinished. I’ve never seen them carry licenses, but after working at a cable company for some time I know that to cut costs they hire out contractors to do the work and well with contractors you get what you pay for. The old cable company I worked for did their own work so the job was very professional. True they do cut a small hole in the wall where the cable has to come in from the outside if one is not already installed but they always did a good job at sealing and concealing. When the company was bought however, the company that took over used contractors and many were not professional at all leaving a mess, not sealing holes properly or routing cables poorly. I was no installer but I bet you I could have done a better job than most of them contractors.
One house I lived in, the installer refused to use the crawlspace and bring the cable up through the floor as the landlord had told him to do. Instead he drilled a hole in the wall about 3 inches above the floor line and ran the cable clear across the room. Because of the size of the room there was no moving the tv to the side of the room the hole was at. And for the second tv hookup he draped a cable from one side of the roof to the other looking very bad. This guy apparently had no idea I was an employee of the company he was contracting for and suffice it to say I voiced my displeasure to the higher ups and someone else came to clean up the mess the previous contractor left behind.
